Waan Waan Thai Restaurant @ Wisma Atria

Attention to all Thai Food lovers, this is a restaurant that you wouldn’t want to miss!

Waan Waan Thai Restaurant is located inside Food Republic at Wisma Atria.
As an avid Thai food fan, I tried various Thai Restaurant in Singapore. Waan Waan Thai Restaurant is definitely one of the best.
I got myself a Vermicelli Prawn Set meal ($8.00) which consists of:

Fried Vermicelli Prawn
Surprisingly, this dish is not oily compared with those I had at other places. The prawns are fresh and it comes in generous serving.

Tom Yam Soup
I normally judge a Thai Restaurant with their Tom Yam Soup. I rate the soup 4/5. It is extremely spicy and sour; you can see lots of chili padi seeds in the soup! The fish in the soup is fresh and smooth. Perhaps the only thing missing in the soup is squid.
The soup comes in small serving; I didn’t get enough of it.

Tapioca with Coconut Milk
This is something new for me. Tapioca with coconut milk is an amazing combination! You can also get this separately at $2.50 over at the counter.

The average waiting time for peak period like Friday evening is about 8-10 minutes. The waiters and waitresses there are polite and they serve promptly after the meal is cook.

Prices are reasonable (no service charge) and I would suggest you guys to get set meal.

Check out Waan Waan Thai Restaurant at:

MellBen Seafood : Crabs!!!

There's one famous zi char stall in the hearland district of Ang Mo Kio selling really good crabs, offering a wide range of crab dishes from their recommended dishes of really good crab beehoon to butter crabs, crab with "dong fen", etc etc...

It's located at the coffeeshop directly over MayFlower Secondary School, along Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 block 232.

(My friend told me there's another crab stall right opposite this coffeeshop with almost the same signboard name. He say that one is opened by this stall's disciple, quite good also, but not as good. If this one too many people, and you dun want to wait, can go to that stall. )

The crab dishes over here are so famous and good that you even need to queue up to get a seat. And it's even separated into 2 queues, one for walk-ins and another for reservations.
Good thing we went there early on a weekday, around 5+, so still no queue. And we ordered quite a lot of dishes! haha

Got their crab beehoon, yam ring, kang kong, "tie ban tofu" and black pepper pork ribs. The prices are quite reasonable, except that i think the kang kong a bit ex, $8. The crabs is counted as per kg of around $40.

The crab beehoon looks good eh? The soup is super deliciously sinful man! Full of the rich aroma of butter, love it man! You wont feel it's too oily when the soup is piping hot, and in fact it increases my appetite. I can't seem to stop eating taking more soup, simply sedap! The meat is deeply infused with the taste of the soup, and it is tenderly delicious! The thick beehoon goes very well with the soup too, so you can forget about getting rice.

This one above is a medium size crab, around $40 odd. Quite worth it i think.

Here are the other dishes we ordered. Tie Ban tofu. But no tie ban. Comes on a wok instead. It's really good and very spicy also. Recommend you to get some Man Tou to dip in the gravy.
The kang kong is also very very spicy, better to eat it with rice.

The pork ribs are not bad too, slightly spicy.
The yam ring is the only other dish that is not spicy we ordered. (other than the crab)

Dunkin Donuts Is BACK!!!

I saw this particular thread in hardwarezone forum mentioning about Dunkin donuts in Spore so i decided to take a look. As what the thread has mention..Dunkin Donuts is really back! After knowing that Singapore is now on this "Donuts Carving" After the launch of Donuts Factory at raffles city shopping center followed by Vinco doughnuts at Vivo City. Actually a lot of us crave for Dunkin donuts but its a pity that it vanishes yrs ago. Knowing that Dunkin is back, i decided to give it a try. They are now going online so if you wants to eat DUNKIN, you need to go online to make your purchase.
This is their url: http://dunkindonuts.zlhub.com/

If you are making a purchase of at least $300, they will deliver to your doorstep free of charge. Otherwise, you will have to meet up with the delivery man on certain MRT stations stated by them in the website. Payment is also done on the day u collect your donuts. By the way their delivery service is only on Sunday and Wednesday only. They will call you to confirm your orders around 1 day after u place your orders.

The one who brought back DUNKIN DONUTS is a 18 yr old boy studying at Raffles Junior College. Thanks to him that we get to eat it again.

4 boxes (24 donuts) $32.00 ($33.60)

All Munchkins' Flavors

20 pieces $8.40

Quite reasonable pricing but if you compare the other 2 donut shops, Dunkin is slightly higher than them.

I ordered 2 boxes to try it out how is it like

Above are swiss milk choc, choc mint, peanut butter jelly, 2 bavarian kreme and strawberry frost(My fav)

this box consist of 3 nutty choc, 1 strawberry frost and 2 strawberry...By the way my favorite are strawberries.
Sorry for not ordering 12 different types of donuts, because I really wan to eat my favorite first before going to try other flavors.

They have 27 flavors for you to choose from, so there is definitely one there suits your taste!
After eating, i think that its good for a try since Dunkin is back in Singapore. We should give support, the standard is still there I must say. The donuts are not hot but it is definitely not oily. For those who are lazy to go down to Malaysia to get it. Order it online then. I would strongly recommend strawberry dounut. The outer donut is covered with icing sugar and the inside is filled with strawberry sauce similar to those strawberry jam but its lighter in taste and not as sweet also. This one really melts in your mouth when u take the 1st bite and you just feel like going for another bite. A must try if you order DUNKIN...

Dian Xiao Er @ VivoCity

Dian Xiao Er has been Popular since it open its first stall at marina sq. Till now it has extended its branches to 4 which is located at VivoCity, Causeway point and AMK hub. I was visiting this branch at VivoCity for dinner.During dinner period, this place is always filled with people. So please go early if u all wan to avoid the long queue ;)

By the way Dian Xiao Er actually means waiter during the ancient china period. Thats why the restaurant is decorated similar to those ancient china style. Even the staff there are dressed up like like ancient china ppl where you can only see it in the tv shows...The ambience there is good and i think its a very good theme restaurant.

More pictures taken inside the restaurant... Doesnt it remind you of the scene at '龙门客栈'

大红灯笼高高挂 ;p

Even their menu is so interesting lo...So ancient

This is what I am eating for my dinner. Since we only got two person eat so we going to have item 1 to item 4 There put $36 but later you all see how much it adds up to.

First came the Soup of the day which is Sze Chuan Soup wif pork ribs.. Its nice I must say..Their soup of the day is up to standard as compared to alot other restaurants.

Poached Spinach with century and salted eggs. Dish ingredient may sound weird to you but trust me its really nice because the fragrances of the salted egg is spread throughout the vegetable... I simply love the combination of salted egg and century egg..Maybe Im an egg lover ;p

Here comes the signature dish for this restaurant!!! Herbal roast duck yeah! Its not just any roast duck you eat outside. This roast duck is cooked with herbal ingredients and you can really taste the herbal in the duck..the herbal taste is very mild so as it does not cover the taste of the roast duck...A must try if u visit Dian Xiao Er!

Last dish is Mongolian Spare ribs..This dish is similar to the sweet and sour pork tat we eat at those 'zi char' stall. But the sause is slightly different with a bit of spiciness inside, just nice for Singaporean who loves to eat hot food ;) To my surprise the spare ribs is not as hard as i thought it would be. It is very crispy on the outside and tender inside because the ribs is fry first before mixing with the sauce.

Overall of the set dinner for 2

Total bill for this set dinner add up to around $50 plus 2 rice and free flow Chinese tea and and the +++.

Crystal Jade Kitchen @ Jurong Point

Been to Crystal Jade Kitchen for quite a number of times and I was satisfied with the food there all along until this visit...I cannot blame Crystal Jade for this but i just have to admit that i chose the wrong dishes.

There are alot of branches around in Singapore so I must say that their standards are really there else there wont be opening 1 after another right..

This is the menu, still as impressive as b4. Up to 100++ dishes to choose from, just looking at the menu only took us 15 mins to decide what to order. Every dishes looks and sound so delicous that we cant decide.

Finally my mum order their beef stew noodle, the beef is very tender and their serving is big....

This is what my Dad ordered, yang zhou fried rice. Its very nice because its oily enough. A good fried rice must be oily enough so that the rice and the ingredients together can be mixed well and delicous.

What my dad and mum order are what we normally eat so quite nice...I wanted to get
something i never tried b4 so i order this 'yuan yang mee'. Its a mixture of bee hoon and Vermicelli ( dong fen) with salted fish and minced meat. When i saw this coming, i was totally turned off by this dish. It just a simple fried bee hoon and it cost me $10 plus for this plate of bee hoon!

Upcoming two dish is a dual combo set in the menu..We order toufu with dunno wat. And here comes the dish. Can you all guess what is it? After eating, we still cant figure out what we are eating..Its very jelly like thing and we call their captain to ask what is it that we are eating and it is actually fish maw. The normal fish maw that we ate are fried but this 1 is not fried. It has a slimy feeling that i don't like.

Lastly is the chopped garlic with scallop and Vermicelli ( dong fen). The chopped garlic tasted great! If you are a garlic lover you will know why its so nice...We pour the chopped garlic on the Vermicelli ( dong fen) and mix it well to eat...Heavenly dish all the garlic are absorbed by the Vermicelli ( dong fen) the fragrance is simply Irresistible . Quite disappointed with the scallops..the meat is like soaked in water for very long, it does not have the taste of scallop anymore. The scallop also lost its tender like feeling le..

Total Cost for the dinner for 3: $70+++(Quite Ex i think)
Quite unhappy with what we had, so next time when you all visit Crystal Jade please do not order The fish maw toufu and 'yuan yang mee'!!!

Seng's Wantan Noodle @ Dunman Food Centre

After my Recommendation for the frog leg porridge at Dunman Food Centre, another food stall that I will recommend will be this Seng's Wantan Noodle. For the last few visits, I only came here for the Dragon City Claypot Frog. As I was eating, I noticed that other than this frog porridge..I saw alot of orange plates on surrounding tables and I trace back and all these orange plated wantan noodles are from Seng's Wantan Noodle.

I was not attracted by this noodle stall at all, no queue at all! I was thinking how come everybody is eating. So I go there to take order..I was shocked when the auntie told me you have to wait for 20mins....Can you Imagine waiting 20 mins for a plate of wantan noodle!!! I say ok since my main dish are the frog leg porridge so I can wait while enjoying my porridge.
I went there at 9 plus at night so I was thinking how is it possible to wait 20 mins for a plate of wantan noodle so I timed how long it took for it to come. True enough, it really came at about 20 mins. It better be good because at 9 plus le still need to wait 20 mins...

When i saw the noodle i know it will be good. Because this is the noodles that those good wantan noodle always used.. I dunno how to describe it but I really can tell just by the noodle itself. Its not like those transparent type of noodle that is very difficult to chew and this type of noodle is slightly thicker and not so sticky than those transparent type which we can normally eat at those HongKong style roast meat noodle. The famous wantan noodle stall at East Coast Park Hawker also uses this type of noodle and 1 of my Favorite wantan noodle stall at Jurong West Blk 505 market also uses this noodle..

Other than its premium noodle, they also add in pork lards!!! This further enhance the fragrance to the wantan noodle... The wantan and the char siew are normal but the soup is better than other stall outside. The aunties selling the noodles are super friendly also. You will have a nice experience eating this stall maybe except the waiting part ba.

Total Cost for 1 plate of wantan noodle: $3( i order the bigger plate..so normal 1 should be $2 or $2.50) Cheap!!!
I will definitely come back again for more!

Dragon City Claypot Frog @ Dunman Food Centre

When it comes to frog leg porridge, many of us will think of going to Geylang to satisfy our cravings. Recently I have been to Dunman Food Centre and there is this particular Frog leg porridge stall that serve fresh and up to standard frog leg porridge.

At first when Dunman food centre was mentioned to me, i was thinking..where the hell this place is?!?! I have never heard of this place before and if I am going to eat frog leg porridge I will definitely go to Geylang why here?? Maybe I am a west side resident thats why I never heard of this place..Its actually very near East Coast Park or Parkway Parade. But still I decided to give this place a chance and give it a try.

For those who dont know the way

I have been there a number of times and i would advice you all to avoid the dinner period because you will have to wait...There will also not be car park slots for you because it will be fully occupied. You can see alot of cars parking along the roads. This stall is open till past midnight so you can always come here for supper.
They got 3 types of frog legs- Dried Chili, Ginger & Onion and Original. I have tried the Dried chili and ginger&onion only and they are good! The price are as shown: 1 frog cost $7, 2 will be $13 and so on..1 clay pot of plain porridge is $1. Price here are reasonable.

Here comes our dried chilli frog legs(HOT! HOT!)

The porridge here is serve hot and is very smooth NICE!

This is dried chilli frogs with extra sauce..

If you are those who wans alot of gravy to eat with your porridge, make sure you request for more gravy coz there isnt much gravy to satisfy my cravings if i never request for more...
Total Cost for 2 frogs plus 1 clay pot of porridge: $14
Overall i think the porridge here compete with those at Geylang, why dont you give it a try here also
