Shin Takeaway @ Vivo City

If you have been to Takashimaya basement food court, there is one stall that sells Japanese Charcoal Grilled Skewers. This Shin Takeaway is also a similar concept as the Takashimaya 's outlet but i think this Shin is slightly better. This is a takeaway outlet, if you like to sit down and enjoy the skewers, beside this shop is their Shin Japanese Restaurant where you can dine inside , all the skewers that are sold at the Shin takeaway are available inside also.

MUST TRY whenever you visit Vivo~~

There are quite a number of variety to choose from. Some of the more common ones are KAWA(chicken skin), TEBASAKI(chicken wing), BUTA BARA(pork belly), UNAGI(eel), SHIITAKE(mushrooms), YAKITORI(chicken thigh), TSUKUNE(chicken meatballs). One of the item I would recommend will be their Grilled rice ball. Their grilled rice ball got two types of fillings- VIVO ONIGIRI(rice ball with eel gilling) and SHIN ONIGIRI(rice ball with minced chicken). I tried the VIVO ONIGIRI myself. The rice ball is slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The taste is like those slightly burnt rice you eat from the claypot rice..Its a very nice snack to fill up our stomach. The whole rice ball is generously dipped with lots of Teriyaki Sauce and more importantly, it is served hot.

Wide Range of different skewers to choose from

Once you have decided on which one to eat, the staff will start to grill your skewer right on the spot. This is also one of the reason why it is so tasty. The food is served immediately once it has been grilled. If you looked carefully, they used charcoal to grill the food not those electric type...And this adds on to the extra fragrance which electric griller cannot achieve.

Fresh from the grilling stove...SHIITAKE(Mushrooms) skewer, its very juicy after grilling...

I have tried three of their skewers and i think that its a nice snack while shopping around Vivo City. Each skewers cost between the range of $1.30 to $2.80. The rice ball will cost slightly more at around $2.80. Its very affordable and the variety of food there might take you some time to decide what to eat. One thing to take note is the grilling time. You will need to wait for at least 5 mins for your skewers because it is grilled only after you finish taking your orders..I think it is worth waiting for food that are freshly grilled when you order rather than pre grilled skewers.
